Brandon Coleman, was born in Monroe Louisiana, in July, Year of 88. Raised in Las Vegas, NV. Brandon considers himself, and family to be most important to him. If he isn’t spending time with friends and family, you can almost, always find him at the gym playing basketball, performing, spoken word, or cutting hair.
Growing up, Brandon was fascinated with basketball, and writing, this interest led to some early exposure, perusing both in a career path.
Brandon found interest in reading, since he was drawn to stories related to basketball, and the history in the black culture. In high school (9-12) (Centennial H.S.) and later at the college level (Chemeketa National JC) Brandon would partake in theater, which opened him up to being more vocal, learning how to project, and being able to perform with passion, animation and understanding of what’s being performed.
Brandon developed a passion for writing poetry, stemming from his grandmother, who was a writer herself, and encouraged Brandon to write, whether it be fictional, poetic, or tragic, happy or sad. She just wanted for him to be able to explore his mind accept his talents, share his gift, and Express himself in ways that made him and others comfortable.
Brandon has performed at various venues, and has featured as a headline in a few events. Such as level one, cork and thorns, the usual place, blackswan, hella expressions, the light house, and more Brandon has competed in two slam competitions placing 3rd in both.
Brandon’s career is just getting started, but he hopes on it being the beginning of a long and lasting journey.
