Summer Slam🦩🏖🍍

Rules for Summer Slam:

This slam will only be taking 10 poets to compete!

Sign-ups will take place at the venue @ 7:30p This slam will follow traditional style rules:

1) There will be three rounds. Each round will have a time limit of three minutes. If a poet goes over three minutes they will be given a 10 second grace period. After that 10 second grace period, every 10 seconds the poet goes over they will lose .5 off their total score for that round.

2) Poets must perform original content. No audio tracks are allowed.

3) Judges will rate poets poems on a scale of 1 to 10. Poets highest and lowest scores from each round will be dropped. Only the three middle scores will be counted towards their score that round.

Ex: If a poet’s first round scores are -

10, 9.6, 9.3, 8.5, 6

The 10 & 6 will not count towards their overall score for that round.

Only the 9.6, 9.3, & 8.5 will be added giving this poet a total score of a 27.4 for the first round.

4) No props are allowed! (Reading off a journal or phone is allowed)

5) No hate speech allowed !

6) The winner will be determined by the top three poets on the final round cumulative scores. Their scores from each round will be added up into a final score. That final score will determine who will be first, second, and third. Each round counts!

7) Have fun!
